Our School

Since 1955, the Labcorp School of Medical Laboratory Science – Michigan has developed educated professionals and leaders in the healthcare field. Our tuition-free program is designed to help you:
  • Thrive in our small class size: Our individualized, team-based instruction allows you to work directly with physicians, laboratorians and other allied health professionals.

  • Experience unique cases: As part of the Labcorp
    Laboratories at Henry Ford St. John Hospital, our Clinical Program provides exposure to a patient population and unique cases and challenges not offered by other programs.

  • Learn in state-of-the-art facilities: We mix classroom instruction with real-world laboratory experiences throughout the year. Our in-depth, in-person training will give you practical experience in our sophisticated laboratory settings and high-caliber health system. 

  • Set yourself up for success: Our excellent educational environment gives you the experience, scientific knowledge and technical skills necessary to take national certifying examinations* and enjoy a rewarding career.  

Our Mission

The Labcorp School of Medical Laboratory Science – Michigan exists to provide the student intern with a wide variety of practical clinical laboratory experiences in a values-driven, team-based environment. Our faculty strives to mentor our interns professionally while teaching them to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Academic Affiliation

The School of Medical Laboratory Science – Michigan presently maintains an academic agreement with Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech). Students from this affiliate, once accepted into the Clinical Program, complete the year on a 3+1 status and receive their baccalaureate degree at the conclusion of the internship. However, the school does accept and consider applications from:

  • 3+1 status students from non-affiliated universities and collages
  • Graduates with baccalaureate degrees in medical laboratory science, chemistry, or biological science

Our clinical laboratories employ between 700-800 associates. Our teaching faculty comprises approximately 150 laboratory scientists, technical and operations coordinators, managers, administrative directors, PhDs, pathology residents and pathologists. These individuals provide their expertise during individualized instruction in the clinical laboratory rotations and in-person lectures throughout the Clinical Program.

Fees and Financial Disclosures

  • The Labcorp School of Medical Laboratory Science – Michigan is tuition-free. 

  • The Labcorp School of Medical Laboratory Science – Michigan has no work agreements. Students/graduates are not required to work for Labcorp during or after the program. 
  • Labcorp offers optional part-time employment opportunities during your education program. 

  • Liability insurance is provided by Labcorp to all employees and students.
  • Students are responsible for their own examination fees if taking the ASCP MLS Board of Certification Examination.
